Financial institutions like banks, nation states complete with their 'soft power' dynamics, and regulators, trying desperately to keep up. In the Wild West of digital assets, while some of us are trying to figure out if the Sheriff can catch up, this asset class is maturing. Paul Quickenden from Swyftx joins me to chat through how latest global events are shaping the future of crypto.

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Darcy Ungaro (financial adviser).

Sign up to the fortnightly newsletter!

Thank You

Swyftx: With over 1 million customers across...

In this one I pose the question - is it a given that NZ will head into stagflation, or could there be light at this end of this oil-shock tunnel?

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Darcy Ungaro (financial adviser).

Sign up to the fortnightly newsletter!

Thank You

Swyftx: With over 1 million customers across New Zealand and Australia.
Keen for a qualified opinion from an economist who isn't an employee of one of the main NZ banks. I am! I think it's critical to understand the REAL impact of the oil shock coming our way to NZ, and how the RBNZ may be forced to respond. Inflation, recession, perhaps a bit of both, or something completely different? Enjoy.

Special thanks to Andrew Hunt from Hunt Economics.

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Darcy Ungaro (financial adviser).

Sign up to the fortnightly newsletter!

Thank You

Swyftx...

In this episode, host Alan Clarke: Portfolio Manager for Diversified Funds and External Managers at Amova Asset Management, explains the Manager of Managers approach: tapping the world's top specialist fund managers to build smarter, globally diversified portfolios. With over 20 years in investment management, Alan breaks down how this strategy may work well considering interest rates, explosive AI growth and the ever present risk of a share market correction.

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Darcy Ungaro (financial adviser).

Sign up to the fortnightly newsletter!

Thank You

Swyftx: With over 1...

You down with USD? Yeah you know me. Well, clearly not. My long term thesis is that this dies a death. Until this occurs however, USD denominated stablecoins will create demand for US Treasuries. This will cause interest rates to drop for any USD debt-based system. For everyday investor, this means property values go up. For a time, USD-denominated stablecoins will lower the cost of money for any nation who adopts it. The US could rule the world. Unless...of course...2026 sees the rise of the non-USD stablecoin.

Special thanks to Ryan Johnson-Hunt from New Money.
<...

This April, the government's increasing the minimum contributions by 0.5% for employees and 0.5% for employer contributions. Too little, too late? Step in the right direction?

Personally I think when the government intervenes, it may already be too late. We need to think of KiwiSaver as a core pillar of retirement provisioning, instead of a 'bit on the side'.

We're driving around in de-tuned cars, because we've been trained to avoid volatility.

In this one, I share the 3 simple turbochargers that you can slap on your cheap runabout, and turn into something you're excited about.<...

Chris Wilson, co-CEO of Harbor Asset Management, joins me as the spotlight goes on the narrative that bonds are dead going forward. Are institutional investors whistling past the graveyard by over-allocating to fixed income amid persistent geo-political tension, rising debt concerns, and uncertain market correlations in 2026? Or are many everyday, self-directed investors skipping bonds to chase stock upside, missing out on vital 'cushioning' for the volatility that may be here to stay. We may be wrong about bonds either way.

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Darcy Ungaro (financial adviser).

Sign up to...

Will a higher OCR crash New Zealand property, or is that just what we need? In this episode we’ll unpack why bank economists are suddenly keen on future hikes, how that lines up with record profits and rising net interest margins, and what it all means for house prices, mortgage refixes, and already‑stretched Kiwi households. I’ll finish with how I’m setting my own mortgage terms right now – including a big 5‑year fix rolling off – so you’ve got a real‑world example to compare your own strategy against.

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Da...

The RBNZ’s OCR decision lands Wednesday, 18 February, and it's expected to hold at 2.25%. The deeper truth? Australian banks (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac) dominate New Zealand’s mortgage market, influence media and politics, and shape house prices and the economy at large. With fragile recovery signs amid persistent inflation, will their pursuit of wider margins on “safe” lending tip us toward Japanese-style housing stagnation? Rupert Carlyon of kōura Wealth joins to discuss.

Book in a free 15-min phone call with Darcy Ungaro (financial adviser).

Sign up to the fortnightly newsletter!

Thank You

Swyf...

Will gold, or bitcoin, come out on top in a monetary reset?

Given the volatility in precious metals, bitcoin, and AI stocks last week, it's a timely reminder...All investments come with the chance of the price going down instead of up, and if you feel fear when markets wobble, just remember the possibility it might not be what your investing in that’s the problem. The best time to change your portfolio is not when you’re spiraling and wondering if you were wrong, but when it’s clear you were right.

The best invest...
